Proof of Payment
Proof of payment
Retrieve proof of payment for a completed transaction to share with your recipient or beneficiary in the event of a credit query. This should always be the first step before raising a SWIFT tracker or equivalent investigation.
Verto supports proof of payment for two payment types:
- SWIFT payments — a UETR (Unique End-to-End Transaction Reference) or MT103 is provided
- Nigeria local payments — a session ID is provided
When to use this
If a beneficiary reports that funds have not been received, retrieve the proof of payment first and share it with them. In most cases this resolves the query without needing to escalate to a formal payment investigation.
Always provide proof of payment to your beneficiary before initiating a SWIFTtracker or raising a payment investigation. This avoids unnecessary delays and recall fees.
Retrieving proof of payment
Call the Retrieve Proof of Payment endpoint using the paymentId of the completed transaction.
